Patti Beavers won First Place in the 21st Annual Thomas Hart Benton Art Competition in Neosho, Missouri, with her painting, “Shadows of Beaver Branch.”

Patti's Biography

Patti Beavers has loved art since early childhood. Growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she always enjoyed visiting Gilcrease and Philbrook art museums. She would go home and create her own renditions of the masterpieces in crayon.

She studied art at Tulsa Jr. College, but considers herself to be primarily self-taught. A few years ago, she received a workshop scholarship at Scottsdale Artists' School where she studied painting and sculpture under instructor Jerry Cox.

Patti has received numerous top awards in area and juried art competitions. She has shown her work at art walks and has had her own shows in Fort Smith, Van Buren, and Springdale, Arkansas. Her very recognizable paintings of bright colors are sought after by private collectors across the country. Her love for the beautiful streams of southwest Missouri is very apparent in her work. She is most popular for her depictions of children along the creek banks. She also enjoys painting rural scenes and animals.

Patti works in oil, acrylic and pastel, and uses the same layering technique in each. She paints in her home studio in Anderson, Missouri, where she has lived for twenty-six years. She is a member of the Ozark Pastel Society.

Artist's Statement

The warmth of light, the coolness in the shadows and the color within . . . color which is often only seen with the minds eye. This is what I like to share with the viewer.

I love painting water and playing with color and reflections. My most popular paintings are creek scenes showing children playing. My childhood memories play a large part in my work, often creating a story.

My artwork has been described as having heart and soul. I hope my paintings bring joy to all.
